Bridal shower games

Three games that work in a living room. Each one needs paper, a pen, and about fifteen minutes. None of them need a decorated stage.

1. The newlywed guess

Before the shower, ask the couple ten short questions separately. Good prompts: first trip, weekday breakfast, a song they both like. At the party, read a question. Guests write who they think gave which answer. One point for each match.

2. Advice on a ribbon

Cut scrap paper into strips. Each guest writes one sentence of advice. Punch a hole and tie the strips to a ribbon the couple can keep. Skip this if you already have a card box and people are tired of writing.

3. Prize word

Pick a word the couple uses a lot, such as home, dinner, or dance. Do not tell the guests. Whenever someone says it during the party, they get a small prize: a candle, a scratch-off, or a mini plant. Stop when the prizes run out so the game does not take over the room.

What to skip

Skip games that ask people to measure the bride's body, or to surrender a personal item, unless everyone already agreed. Those stall the room.
